Emilio Ochando Company
Multi-award-winning Spanish dancer and choreographer Emilio Ochando founds his lauded company in Madrid, Spain in 2013 after winning First Prize at the III Danza Almería International Festival.
The Emilio Ochando Company premieres its very first full length production, 3ofOne, at Madrid’s Paco Rabal Theatre in 2014. The production tours nationally and becomes the first of Ochando’s works programmed at the premier flamenco event in Spain, the 2018 Jerez Festival. After a year spent teaching and dancing in Japan, Ochando returns to Madrid with a new choreography called TINEVO, which competes in the 2016 Spanish Dance and Flamenco Competition and TALENT Madrid Competition. He wins first prize in both competitions, which in addition to cash prizes also come with a company residency at Madrid’s Teatros del Canal and the opportunity to choreograph a work for Carlota Sanatna’s NYC-based company Flamenco Vivo. In 2017, the company premieres its second full-length production SIROCO at the Teatros del Canal. The work expands on the themes of masculinity in Spanish dance explored in TINEVO. A brief video of this work that was posted to Facebook currently has over 1.4 million views. SIROCO has since toured Spain and Isreael, and the company continues to tour both of its productions internationally. |
