Pascuala Ilabaca & Fauna
Accordion-wielding Chilean songstress Pascuala Ilabaca is a true Latin American gem. A favorite on the current Chilean singer-songwriter scene, her music is rooted in the traditional music of Chile but effortlessly integrates shades of jazz, pop and rock, and influences gathered from such distant countries as India.
Accompanied by her formidable band Fauna, her unique stage presence conjures up sweetness and empowerment all at once, setting her songs ablaze with both fragility and verve. Pascuala Ilabaca & Fauna were nominated for Best Artist 2016 by Songlines magazine alongside Mariza, Seckou Keita and Lura. The band is a two-time recipient of Independent Music Awards (USA) in 2013 and 2015, and they were selected in March 2015 as Top of the World by Songlines. In 2016 Pascuala received the Pulsar Prize, the most important Chilean music award, for the album Rey Loj. Pascuala Ilbaca & Fauna have toured South America, North America and Europe multiple times, performing at such important festivals and venues as Womad, TFF Rudolstadt, Shambala, Fussion, London Jazz Festival, Les Escales, Pirineos Sur, La Mar de Músicas, ¡Globalquerque!, Lotus Festival, Chico World Fest and the Berliner Philharmoniker.
