Miguel Hernando Torres Umba

Miguel Hernando Torres Umba is a Colombian director, actor and physical theatre performer and the Artistic Director of Blackboard Theatre. Trained in acting at the Superior Academy of Arts of Bogota (Colombia), he specialized in Corporeal Mime at the International School of Corporeal Mime in London.
Miguel has extensive experience in immersive theatre, and since 2008, he has collaborated with Secret Cinema as both an actor and performance director. Directing credits include Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future, Starwars and Moulin Rouge. At present Miguel is a lead Creative Director for the new large-scale co-production between Secret Cinema and Disney Studios to be premiered in 2021. Miguel regularly collaborates with Carnival arts company Mandinga Arts for whom he was an Associate Creative Director in 2017, and he is a performer for the renowned physical theatre company Gecko Theatre. Miguel is part of the cast of MISSING and will appear in the film version of Institute to be launched by the BBC in Summer 2020. |
